eMuseum Notes
On September 27, 2025, Pulitzer Prize-winning artist Raven Chacon launched his large-scale musical composition Tiguex. Taking place from dawn to dusk across Albuquerque, over 200 musicians performed Chacon's composition, from mariachis on a flatbed truck, to a cantata of eight singers under the I-40 highway. Tiguex, from the Tiwa word meaning the valley between the Sandia and Isleta pueblos, also exists as this lithograph print made in collaboration with the Tamarind Institute. The print, essentially a map of the city currently known as Albuquerque, and a score of the composition itself, shows the geographic locations where the musical movements took place.
