DescriptionA cluster of imploding satellite dishes in front of a blue cloudy sky
eMuseum Notes
Babel On, a play on the word Babylon, reimagines the biblical Tower of Babel as a contemporary structure built from communication technologies. Covered with satellite dishes, resembling the radio telescope facility the Very Large Array in Magdalena, New Mexico, the tower is caught in the act of implosion, reflecting the paradox of the information age: expanding connectivity does not necessarily produce greater understanding. The work considers ambition, human division, and the limits of technology in resolving fundamentally human conflicts.
