Georgia O'Keeffe's series In the Patio depicts a variety of views from the patio of her Abiquiu home. The second painting in the series is decidedly minimal with a single darkened window placed at the center of the canvas and an otherwise tripartite composition with a thin sliver of sky, an adobe wall, and an equally thin sliver of ground. O'Keeffe eschewed detail, preferring smooth planes and minimal modelling.
