A Harvard educated poet who moved to Santa Fe in 1922, Harold Witter Bynner (19xxwas a prominent figure in Santa Fe's literary and cultural life. Adams met Bynner on his first trip to New Mexico in 1927 and photographed him several times over the years. This portrait was likely made in conjunction with Bynner's memoir, "Journey with Genius: Recollections and Reflections Concerning the D.H. Lawrences" from 1951.
