Bradford Hansen-Smith

Bradford Hansen-Smith was born in Los Angeles, California in 1940. He studied at the University of Southern California, Cooper Union in NYC, and the Chicago Art Institute. He was awarded the Anna Louise Raymond Traveling Fellowship for sculpture and spent one year of Independent study in Florence, Italy. He went on to found the Wholemovement, a process of folding and observing the information stored in the flattened sphere (circle) which becomes uncompressed by moving the circle plane through all three spatial dimensions.
