Description
The meaning given for “Canandaigua” is: “The Iroquois treaty of 1794 with the United States. The US. [sic] pledged that it would never encroach on Iroquois property located in Eastern and central New York State. The land includes New York City.” The treaty was signed in Canandaigua, New York, on November 11, 1794, by representatives of the Grand Council of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy and by Colonel Timothy Pickering as the representative of U.S. President George Washington (and is sometimes called the Pickering Treaty).
