In
this image, Noggle imitates the iconic film star Marilyn Monroe, who stood over
a subway grate in the white cocktail dress in the 1955 film “The Seven Year
Itch.” The image of Monroe with the dress billowing up around her is a
now-classic image of coy yet provocative femininity. In adopting this pose as
an older woman, Noggle flouts expectations and asserts her own appeal and
sexuality.
