eMuseum Notes
Throughout her series Fire and Ice, Myers explores two poles of physical extremes across a variety of landscapes, often extremely remote, around the globe. Interested in the ever changing surface of the earth, Myers’ photographs often explore the theme of fire in volcanic, sulfuric activity and ice in Arctic formations. The images are a testament to Myers dedication and long term work with various organizations, namely the National Science Foundation and the Smithsonian Institution, in order to capture the evolving life of our planet and the human relationship to it. The resulting images, although documentary in nature, convey a deep sensorial sense of place that, through poetic composition and framing, are also, at once, compelling contemporary works of photographic art.
