Fiesta Dancers, or F…
Bronze sculpture by Luis Jiménez Jr., "Fiesta Dancers," horizontal view Fiesta Dancers, or Fiesta Jarabe presents a man and woman dancing the “Jarabe Tapatio”, the traditional Mexican hat dance. Both figures are dressed in traditional folkloric dance clothing and stand on either side of a large brimmed sombrero. Like much of artist Luis Jiménez Jr. (1940 -2006) work the subject reflects traditional Mexican culture. This particular subject was used by Jimenez in many different media ranging from small scale bronze figures like this sculpture, works on paper, and large-scale outdoor fiberglass figures. An American artist of Mexican descent the artist’s work often featured southwestern themes and subjects that celebrated his Chicano heritage and working-class background.
