DescriptionAbstract landscape done in vertical and horizontal lines and bold bars. Various tones of browns, blue and beige on white background.eMuseum Notes
In 1932, Cady Wells studied painting with Andrew Dasburg in Taos. The latter, an accomplished artist and instructor, taught Wells how to capture the essence of nature using an economy of line and color. This New Mexico landscape demonstrates Dasburg's influence most clearly with its intersecting diagonals that suggest both the natural topography of the landscape and unseen forces.
