Victor Higgins painted numerous scenes of the adobe buildings around Taos, where he had worked professionally since 1915. The architecture of the buildings and the view of the Taos Mountains never failed to interest him. In this painting, Higgins seems to have found interest in the irregular geometry of the scene with lines that are never quite straight and subtle diagonals.
