DescriptionImpressions of landscape of Cheyenne mountains, trees and shrubs in foreground.eMuseum Notes
Dasburg visited Colorado throughout his career, and this drawing of Cheyenne Mountain was the result of a car trip to the area around Colorado Springs. Cheyenne Mountain had a long history of human habitation, beginning with the Cheyenne and followed by American homesteaders and prospectors. When Dasburg visited, the mountain had become the site of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), although the artist's spare approach to the mountain's topography gives little indication of its new significance.
