DescriptionAbstract view of Lake George in dark blues with hills in the background and a long thin cloud above.eMuseum Notes
Alfred Stieglitz' and Georgia O'Keeffe spent half of 1922 at his family's estate on Lake George. Her Landscape on Lake George is among the moodier representations of the lake with the Adirondacks depicted in silhouette, and the foliage in the foreground reduced to simplified, darkened masses. O'Keeffe exhibited the painting at Anderson Galleries in 1923, where it was purchased by close friend and colleague Rebecca Salsbury Strand.
