DescriptionAbstract landscape, bold tree at center, mountains in background.eMuseum Notes
Lines of varying thickness describe the flora and fauna of the New Mexican landscape in Easter Morning. Dasburg's calligraphic approach blurs the distinctions between rocks, trees, and animals in his exuberant response to an Easter morning sketching trip. Although Dasburg looked often to Paul Cezanne for inspiration, he admired the work of Vincent van Gogh, and this drawing betrays that influence in its expressive use of line.
